Computational Scientist - Reaction Mechanisms | Biotech | North East England
Talent STEM is working with an innovative early-stage biotechnology company seeking a Computational Scientist with expertise in reaction kinetics, thermodynamics and predictive modelling. You will play a key role in developing computational tools and algorithms to enhance predictive modelling and design processes for their proprietary nucleic acid nanotechnology.
Location: North East England
Salary: £42K - £55K (Dependent on Experience)
Contract: 24 months (Potential for Permanent Role)
The role:
Working closely with an interdisciplinary team, you will:
✅Develop and implement computational tools to predict and analyse nucleic acid secondary structures. Use kinetic and thermodynamic modelling to study reaction mechanisms.
✅Apply predictive modelling techniques to analyse inter/intramolecular hybridization and toehold-mediated strand displacement.
✅Interpret computational results in collaboration with experimental teams.
✅Contribute to the development of standard workflows for predictive modelling, simulation, and data analysis.
✅Maintain detailed records of computational procedures and results.
✅Stay up to date with the latest advancements in computational chemistry, biophysics, and machine learning for nucleic acid research.
What you’ll need:
✅PhD (or equivalent experience) in Computational Chemistry, Chemical Physics, Physical Sciences, or a related field.
✅Strong understanding of thermodynamic and kinetic principles in chemical/biological systems.
✅Experience with reaction modelling techniques (deterministic and stochastic).
✅Proficiency in Python and scientific libraries (NumPy, SciPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn).
✅Background in data analysis and machine learning for computational research.
